Our Role
A sudden turbine protection trip at a large coal-fired power station caused blade failure within the low-pressure module, forcing an immediate shutdown and operational curtailment.
We were appointed to lead the technical investigation and claim throughout co- ordinating on-site diagnostics, engaging the OEM, preserving evidence, and establishing safe access and mitigation. Working with plant engineers, we oversaw temporary stabilisation measures, including inspection, selective component removal and balancing, enabling a controlled return to service at reduced load while permanent repairs and procurement progressed.
In parallel, we mapped policy response under Operational All Risks with Machinery Breakdown, provided clear reporting to stakeholders, and set a pragmatic strategy for quantum and reinstatement. Our approach accelerated recovery, contained exposure, and delivered a transparent path to settlement
showcasing our end-to-end capability on delicate generation losses, from first attendance through to resilient reinstatement and improved continuity planning.
